Before Blessed Mary of Providence began the Society of Helpers as a Religious congregation, she formed a Lay Association. There have always been many ways of belonging to the Helper family – today there are lay companions throughout the world. They support the mission in a daily living of the Helper charism, through prayer, life and work.
At this point of our history there is evidence of a movement of the Spirit calling us to new ways of imagining and living this charism. As we explore this 'movement' together, we appreciate that her charism is bigger than we are, and that together we can offer something special to our world.
The urgent needs of our time impel us to travel with those whom God is calling in new ways. Charism is a living dynamic reality and each group, even each individual, offers new ways of reflecting on it and of expanding the vision.
Our companions include women and men, married and single, priests, and people from other denominations. Representatives of Companions from each county gather from time to time at our Mother House in Paris.
